Immune system booster Homemade turbos for the body's defences
Snow-covered forests, clear cold air and gigantic views on the mountain - that's winter in the Home of Lässig. But winter in the Glemmtal can also be different: stormy mountain peaks, cold winds and rather uncomfortable weather that makes you want to cosy up in front of the fireplace after a mountain tour.
When winter with all its facets sets in, the cold season inevitably begins. Coughs and colds are usually not long in coming. Unless you make sure that your body's own defence system is well prepared: fresh air, exercise and a healthy diet play a key role in strengthening our immune system. As we all know, we need an intact immune system now more than ever. You don't have to look far in Saalbach Hinterglemm for exercise opportunities and fresh air - there's plenty of it.

Admittedly, ginger and turmeric are not necessarily native to the Glemmtal. But they are simply too good not to use. Both have an anti-inflammatory effect and strengthen our immune system - perfect for the cold season! I always use the fresh roots for my shot and never the ready-made powder, because it makes a huge difference to the flavour!
Ingredients:
50 g fresh ginger
50 g fresh turmeric
2 organic oranges
1 organic lemon
1 tbsp organic coconut oil
1 tsp honey
250 ml organic apple juice
a pinch of pepper
a pinch of star anise powder
a pinch of cinnamon
Preparation:
Firstly, wash the ginger, turmeric, oranges and lemons thoroughly. Then peel one lemon and one orange and cut them into chunks. The ginger and turmeric are also chopped and placed in a food processor or blender together with the lemon and orange. Add the juice of a squeezed orange, apple juice, coconut oil and spices to the chopped ingredients. Everything is finely pureed in the blender on the highest setting until the liquid is a beautiful yellow colour and creamy. If you don't like chunks in your drink, filter the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve and pour the finished shot into small bottles.
