Group-hikes in Saalbach-Hinterglemm Discover nature playfully
With its wide meadows, flat valleys, evergreen alpine landscapes, cool forests and mighty rocky peaks, the region around the Eggerhof is particularly popular for hiking tours. Numerous hiking trails for children with low to moderate gradients along inspiring landscapes invite you to dream and enjoy. To introduce you and your children to this fantastic world, we organise a family hike in Saalbach-Hinterglemm once a week.
Hikes with children to natural sites
Family hiking trails suitable for children are designed to awaken a desire for hiking and exercise in the great outdoors. Together we move through Saalbach-Hinterglemm and the surrounding region on the way to the most beautiful natural sites. When hiking with children, there are always stops at adventure stations. The trails take us very close to the animals on the mountain pastures. Some of them can hardly wait to be petted and fed. Our family hike through Saalbach-Hinterglemm also leads to streams, wide flower meadows and snack stations with playgrounds.
For hiking with the family, we only choose easy, manageable paths. Please bring weatherproof clothing, good shoes and a few rations as well as a small first-aid kit in case of ailments. If you would like to know exactly what your hiking backpack should not be without, just ask us - the best way is to send us a no-obligation holiday enquiry.
Hiking trails suitable for buggies in Saalbach
The whole family should be there... if only it weren't for the buggy. But watch out, numerous buggy-friendly hiking trails in Saalbach invite you to go on family walks and short mountain tours - for everyone from babies to grandmothers. We have collected the best family hiking options for you.
Our hiking trails suitable for buggies
Most buggy-friendly paths are located in flatter terrain. Along the Promenade 1 between the Schattberg X-Press in Saalbach and the Reiterkogelbahn cable car in Hinterglemm, you can enjoy a leisurely stroll over largely flat terrain and listen to the quiet murmur of the Saalach. Want to go higher? No problem: on the Reiterkogel you can breathe in the mountain air on wide, spacious forest roads. In the end of the valley, the so called "Talschluss", fun attractions await clever kids, which can be reached on paths suitable for buggies.
Tips for hiking and playing tours
Four summer mountain cable cars offer space for buggies. The cable car up the Kohlmais should not be a problem due to its wide doors. Please note that buggies over 75 cm wide can only be transported folded up on the Zwölferkogel, Reiterkogel and Schattberg. Some of the children's attractions are difficult or even impossible to reach on four buggy wheels. For Berg Kodok and the Montelino, we recommend a child back carrier, which you can hire from Sport Gumpold.
Tree top path & Golden Gate Bridge of the alps High above the valley
Do you have a head for heights: We take you to the skies! The tree top path at the end of the Hinterglemm valley is Europe's highest one. You can hike and walk up to 30 metres above the ground amidst the region's fascinating vegetation. With the low ropes course for first balancing acts and action in the high ropes course, the Baumzipfelweg is the perfect excursion destination for the whole family!
Spectacular trail with great views
From the parking area at the "Talschluss", you walk approx. 2 km, to the tree top path at the Lindlingalm or you take the train "Talschlusszug". The Golden Gate Bridge of the Alps is one of the most beautiful sections of the one kilometre long trail at the highest altitude. It is 200 metres long, up to 42 metres high and is modelled on the legendary suspension bridge in San Francisco Bay. With its platforms, towers, bridges and steps, the treetop trail offers magnificent views far beyond the valley.
Low and high rope paths in Saalbach
The area is also home to the low rope path with various stations for daring climbers and small balancing acts over ropes and bridges. In the high rope park, you can climb over challenging constructions and glide through the forest on flying foxes. Brief instruction and basic physical fitness are mandatory.
